how do you solve a vertical hyperbolas that looks like this : ( y^2-2y )-4(x^2 )= 36?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

what do you mean by "solve"?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

(y^2-2y )-4(x^2 )= 36 complete the squares :)

OpenStudy (amistre64):

-4x^2 is already fine....nothing needed there y^2 -2y + _____ ; (-2/2)^2 = 1 y^2 -2y +1; since you add 1 to this side; add it to the other side as well....

OpenStudy (amistre64):

or is it just asking for the complete the square info?

OpenStudy (anonymous):
