I would encourage you to look at notepad++ and python 2.7: http://notepad-plus-plus.org/ http://www.python.org/download/releases/2.7/ Also, this site may help you configure notepad++ if you don't launch applications from terminals: http://superuser.com/questions/72133/notepad-run-shortcut-wont-run-with-python
