Find the zeros of x^2+11x+18=0

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Challenge: find two numbers multiplied together gives you 18, those same two added gives you 11.

I have answer choices, and two of them are 18. so.. a) zeros:2,9 b) zeros: -2,-9

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Try them (x+9)(x+2) (x-9)(x-2) Which ever expands to your original equation. First double check your numbers: does be add up to 18?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i think its the zeros:2,9 because it also adds up to be 11

Good guess. Proof would be the good, old FOIL.
