the volume of 100 drops of a liquid is 0.1 fl. oz. what is the volume of 10,000 drops?
set up 100 drops/ .1 fl =10,000 drops/x then cross multiply.
huhh?
He is saying to set the problem up as a proportion which is the same way i would go about solving this
i don't know how to do that though.
100 drops 10,000 --------- = ------- .1 fl oz x
okay cool ...now letme try to do this lol
have you ever seen anythign like that?
yes i just dont remember how to do it.
ok first multipy .1fl x 100 then / by 100 to give you x
so the answer is 10?
that is very correct
cool!thanks :)
A man wants to measure the height of a nearby building. He places a 5 ft pole in the shadow of the building so that the shadow of the pole is exactly covered by the shadow of the building. The total length of the building's shadow is 176ft , and the pole casts a shadow that is 5.75 ft square long. How tall is the building? Round your answer to the nearest foot.
just make sure when you do this keep like units together
5ft pole x ------ = ------ 5.75 s 176 s let s= shadow
so do the same thing as above?
yes 5*176/5.75
i got 153.04 i cross multiplied. got 880=5.75x ____ ____ 5.75 5.75 x=153.04
or do u subtract 5.75 from both sides instead of divide?
