how to calculate period, when it is graphed on a graph for trigonometric graphs

OpenStudy (anonymous):

dont you subtract from right point to the left one?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

whatever makes one full cycle is the period

OpenStudy (amistre64):

if the cycle is out of phase; then subtract the left from the right

OpenStudy (amistre64):

higher# - lower# = period

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay I know the period, and amplitude, how would i transform that into y=aCOSk(x-b)?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

a is amplitude; k is period; and -b is the shift; how far moved from zero

OpenStudy (amistre64):

well.... b is; that - sign is there for convience i spose
