How do you find slopes and y-intercept in a equation?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You have to put the equation into the form\[y=mx+b\]The slope will be m, the intercept will be b. If you have a specific question, maybe you should post it.

thx!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

welcome :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

:D

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So is that enough? You don't have a question?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i do..... how do you find a area of a triangle?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The area is always \[\frac{1}{2} \times (base)\times (perpendicular.height)\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Perpendicular height is the blue line, with length 'h'. The base has length 'a' here.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thx alot lokisan!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You're welcome.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

but i could not really understand it... can provide a explanation for a 6th grader? and not use a scalene triangle?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

If you cut out any triangle you want, and hold it on the desk so that one of its sides is laying on the desk, the perpendicular height is just the height from the bottom to the top...that's all it's saying. If you need more help, let me know. I don't have much time today to draw up anything to help explain. Hope it helps :)

ok! thx!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Maybe that one's better.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thx alot! it is rly helpful! i like it!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You're welcome :)
