At a concert by The Who in 1976, the sound level 50 meters from the stage registered 120 decibels. The threshold of pain for the human ear is 90 decibles. 1. calculate the sound intensity of the Who concert and the sound intensity of the threshold of pain.

To get back from dB to intensity I, [a] divide decibels by 10 and [b] raise ten to that power, then [c] multiply that value times 10^-12 watts/m², the threshold of hearing. 1) 120/10= 12 so, (10^12)(10^-12) 2) 9/10= 9 so, (10^9)(10^-12).

You have to multiply the answers out, but yes. The ones I gave are the intensities, but you have to multiply them and you'll get it.
