A 14 foot tree casts an 8 foot shadow shadow. At the same time, a nearby flagpole casts a 10 foot shadow. How tall is the flagpole?

this is a simple cross multiplying solution to the answer , where the height of the flagpole is the variable,, i learned it in 9th

Using similar triangles we know flagpole is smaller than tree. 14(8/10) will get us flagpole height because 8/10 is ratio of smaller to larger size length and since 14 is large, it is multiplied by this ratio. Its easy to see when you draw the triangles with lengths.
