write the series with summation notation: 12+4+4/3+4/9. How do you set up notation?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you find a common ratio (1/3) \[12 * \sum_{n=?}^{?} (1/3)^{n}\]

I'm not entirely sure but hopefully this will somewhat help

the answer is \[\sum_{i=1}^{4} 4/3^{i-2}\] i just cant seem get past the common ration of 1/3.
