if the perimeter of some traffic sign must be 84 inches and its length is 8 inches longer than its width find the dimensions of the sign
help
Let the width be x This makes the length ( x + 8 ) the perimeter is found by 2 * ( length + breadth ) So it is 2 * ( x + x + 8 ) this is 2 * ( 2x + 8 ) which is 4x + 16 this is equal to 84 So 4x + 16 = 84 so 4x = 68 therefore x = 17 x + 8 = 25 therefore the dimensions ate 17 inches by 25 inches The width is 17 inches The length is 25 inches
thank you so much for your help:)
