What is the name given to the process of assigning a specific binary number to an instantaneous value on an analog signal?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

quantisising? digitalising? analog-to-digital-converting? idk what your looking for, sry... would you please try to maybe rephrase it? :P

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I saw an answer about pulse code modulation

OpenStudy (anonymous):

how about you help me with this one, What do you call a satellite that rotates around the equator 22,300 miles from the earth?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

that would be a geosynchronous satellite... Sorry I didn't get you were looking for PCM :-/

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes the answer that I was looking for is PCM, thanks, u leaving soon?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i think i'll be on for another 2 hours at least..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok cool, are FM and PM two of three properties of a high frequency carrier that van be varied by a low frequency modulating signal during modulation?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

properties? hä? :P Frquency Modulation and Phase Modulation are 2 basic forms of modulating a high(er)-frequency analog carrier with an low(er)-frequency analog signal, yes. The 3rd (and simplest) one, would be Amplitude Modulation (AM)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what are the four major component of an R-2R digital converter?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

What is the name of the device use to convert analog signals to their digital form?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

is it ADC?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it is - yes :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so do u know anything about the R-2R digital converter?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it's just a simple network.. i don't know about the 4 major components, sry :( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Resistor_ladder

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok I will
