what is 3/4 + 2/5 ? & how would you show your work

The answer would be 23/20. First you need to make the denominators the same. So the denominator would be 20 because that's the lowest number that both 4 and 5 go into. Then 4 goes into 20 5 times so you multiply 5 and 3. Then you do the bottom fraction. 5 goes into 20 4 times and 4 times 2 is 8. So at this point your equation would look like 15/20 + 8/20. Then you add 15 + 8 which equals 23. So you answer is 23/20.
