how to solve this inequality -2x+7 < 13

OpenStudy (anonymous):

subtract the 7 from the 13, that gives you -2x=6 then divide -2 by six, that then gives you x>-3 you have the flip the switch because you are dividing by a negative

great thank you

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yep i had to do that for like 3 months this year..now i have it down! haha

OpenStudy (anonymous):

wanna try another one?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

6x+5 > 7x-15

OpenStudy (anonymous):

haha suuure, do you want to know all the steps?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

please :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay so first you have to subtract 5 from -15 that gives you 6x>7x-20 then you have to subtract 7x from 6x, that gives you -x>-20then to get it non negative multiply the whole problem by -1 so then the answer is x>20

so helpful thanks!
