The horizontal cross=section of a beer keg 4 ft tall is circular and the sides of the keg are parabolic. The diameter of the top and bottom is 2 ft and the diameter in the middle is 3 ft. Find the volume of the keg.

This is a calculus question so would you just use that equation for the the diameters given and add them up using your equation?

You need two different equations to make some king of a link; horizontal cross section, parabola are clues I think.
