does anybody know what deceptive distinctions is and can explain it to me? thanks

OpenStudy (carlsmith):

I'm guessing it just means to distinguish between two or more things in a way which is meant to mislead. An example might be the media's distinction between 'Egyptian, anti-government rebels' and 'Iraqi insurgents'. Both groups are essentially civilians, fighting oppressive regimes, but because the Iraqi public are fighting the Iraqi government which is closely allied to the US, they're are obviously, at least according to FOX, thoroughbred baddies.
