This is a monomial times a monomial.. 1st step. Multiply the real numbers. 5 * -2 = -10 2nd step. Write the letters down in alphabetical order xy 3rd step. Add the exponents for each variable. where there is a plain x it is actually to the first power so for the x's you have 1 + 2 = 3 so you have x^3 For the y's you have 2 + 3 = 5 so you have y^5 so the answer is -10x^3y^5
