2 mathematician met after a long time. 1 asked the other about their life. 1 said that he has 3 daughters. Other asked the age. So 1 said i will give you clues. Other said Ok. Give 1st clue. 1. "The product of the ages of my daughters is 36". other asked for another clue. 2. "The sum of the ages is equal to my house number" other again asked for another clue. 3. " My youngest Daughter has blue Eyes " Now the other friend found the ages of his friends daughters. Can you ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i think it is 2,3,6

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it hs 2 be 2,3,6 only i thnk so

OpenStudy (anonymous):

wrong

OpenStudy (anonymous):

1,4,9

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what is the significance of hint 3? can you tell me sweetz......

OpenStudy (anonymous):

:-)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

in d sense

OpenStudy (anonymous):

hey hw do we no d house no. & blue eyes hw related

OpenStudy (anonymous):

if the house no. is given then it would be very easy...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

dduuuuuuhhhhhhhhhh

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i thing the blue eyes to misguide...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thats the key

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i hop dis question has a valid ans

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes obviously....

OpenStudy (anonymous):

dont hope it has

OpenStudy (anonymous):

wait.........whattttttttttttt!!!!!!!!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeeeeeeeeeeeeeessssssssssss

OpenStudy (anonymous):

can you please explain us how to solve it Om

OpenStudy (anonymous):

hw abt 2 r twins and d ans goes 3,3,4

OpenStudy (anonymous):

haha lolzzzzzz

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i was thinking something like 6, 6 and 1.. Young kids seem to have blue eyes that change when they're older?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

are you assuming twins because of blue eyes????????????

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ha ha

OpenStudy (anonymous):

if you are write then Miss is also write....and hence an ambiguous ans

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yaa

OpenStudy (anonymous):

cn anyone tel d ans i m damn curious

OpenStudy (anonymous):

your question was really good but its a puzzle rather than a maths.....very interesting.........

OpenStudy (anonymous):

only me.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it is logic and its part of maths

OpenStudy (anonymous):

see the answer must be one of the triplets of the factor of 36

OpenStudy (anonymous):

k sooooooo

OpenStudy (anonymous):

this is sooo funny

OpenStudy (anonymous):

1,3,12. 1,2,18, and so onnnnnnnnnnnnnnn

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Well yeah, you have to have a finished product of 36. You also have a sum that is actually able to be a house number..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

its one of my interesting questions

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i think its the time for Master om to give the answer.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

waitng

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes every triplet would give a whole no....Miss...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sud i answer ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yessssss

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yessssssssssssssssssssss

OpenStudy (anonymous):

with logicccccccccccccc

OpenStudy (anonymous):

He also said 'my youngest daughter' so it'd allow for the assumption that there may be an age difference.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

seems its going 2 tak lots of tm

OpenStudy (anonymous):

we chat now.....there is no such unanswered question......come in chat box

OpenStudy (anonymous):

k

OpenStudy (anonymous):

For 1st clue possible situations are 1,1,36 1,2,18 1,3,12 1,4,9 1,6,6 2,2,9 2,3,6 3,3,4 Now as for 2nd clue lets add the numbers which comes out 38 21 16 14 13 13 11 10 As he is his friend he knows the house no but still got confused means more than 1 has same value. As you can see above all are unique except 13 which can be 1,6,6 or 2,2,9 Now the 3rd clue sez My youngest daughter. i.e. there is no twins as young. So answer is 1,6,6

OpenStudy (anonymous):

why did u excluded the solutions 38,21,16,14,11,10?????????

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i got it

OpenStudy (anonymous):

can you please explain it.........

OpenStudy (dumbcow):

good question very logical thanks for sharing

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so you got dipankar ?

OpenStudy (radar):

Since they had not met in a "long time" as stated, then accepting as fact that one knew the others house number is stretching it a bit...could of moved etc. However, in spite of that, it was a good problem. Enjoyed it Master OM
