can u help me to solve and graph [-2x-4]>6

OpenStudy (chaise):

-2x-4>6 -2x > 10 x < -5 <-- when dividing by a negative number the sign flips. This can be plotted on a number line. x = every number greater than negative five.

Uh.. that's not correct. Recall that: \[ |a| > b \iff a > b \text{ or } a < -b\] In this case a is (-2x - 4) and b is 6 So we have -2x - 4 < -6 or -2x - 4 > 6 -2x < -2 or -2x > 10 x > 1 or x < -5

You can also see that your solution is wrong since 0 is greater than -5 and yet \[|-2(0) -4| = |-4| = 4 < 6\]
