When we look at objects, are photons being reflected or are the excited electrons giving out photons when they return to ground state?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

photons being reflected....

OpenStudy (anonymous):

except for when your looking at a light source ;)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

exactly,

OpenStudy (anonymous):

photons are reflected no doubt, but when looking through the refractive medium it is also the energy radiated due to transition of the electrons in the medium along with the reflected photons which we see.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

not only the energy but also the momentum

OpenStudy (anonymous):

momentum cannot be radiated bro

OpenStudy (anonymous):

electric field always inline with magnetic field.....then they carry energy and momentum
