Question

Can someone pls help me with my question in the computer technology room? :P i am going to be trying the software mentioned in a little while and need to know this information! :)

Did you setup the disk properly using LVM? I mean, does your computer boot to the desktop?

Well it did for a while and then it just stopped it doesnt boot to the desktop anymore :(

So you are saying that this is happening with your current operating system and not Ubuntu?

It is on my other computer. for awhile it would boot up and go to the log in and then when you tried to log it would just automatically restart and then we ran pc recovery and now it wont give us anything but that option (pc recovery) no its not pertaining to Ubuntu can u still help? :)

I am wondering if using Ubuntu after burning the image on a CD/DVD will still work. will it ? :)

Sounds like a problem with your operating system. Without knowing your system, I would say backup all of the data on your hard drive and reinstall the operating system.

Yes, you can use Ubuntu to recover data on your computer so long as it is not a hardware issue. Simply boot the disc as a live session and copy data to another storage drive using Ubuntu.

Can you explain or maybe walk me through the whole entire process? sorry if this is too much to ask ... Also you know how your supposed to burn the image onto the Cd/DVD does it have to be a blank CD/DVD?

Yes. You need to burn the .iso file you downloaded to a blank CD-R, insert the disc in your computer, and then boot the disc by shutting down your computer, and then pressing Esc, F2, F8, or whatever key you use to get into the startup settings. Then change your boot priority from your hard disc to the CD (unless you computer already boots from the CD first before your HDD anyway). The computer will then boot the disc and it will ask you at the prompt if you want to install the software or boot a live session. Boot a live session.
