Hello I am Andy and I am studying for a final tomorrow, I am having trouble on the following question: √(x+7)+√(x)=3 Not looking for the answer, but the process rather, steps etc thank you very much!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

just square both sides and solve for x

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No that does not work. http://www.wolframalpha.com/input/?i=%28%28x%2B7%29^%281%2F2%29+%2B+x^%281%2F2%29%29^2

hmm any ideas?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Think of it like this in terms of exponentiation: (x+7)^(1/2)+x^(1/2) = 3

im still confused, can someone please show the steps? would i square both sides or what
