How to find a percentage?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

if the given number is x Then its percentage is x/100

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Say if u want to find 5% of 30 it is 5 x 30 --- 100

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what if i am grading a paper and it is 39 questions right out of 46 questions 39/46?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Then it is 39 x 100% --- 46

OpenStudy (anonymous):

= 84.78%

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sorry i still don't understand can you calrify it a little more?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

See percent means out of 100 Suppose you score 89 marks out a test of 100 marks, we say you have got 89/100 i.e. 89% Understood??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So when you have a situation that u hv scored 19 out of a test of 25, you have scored 19/25 BUT for percentage you hv to find how much you have scored out of 100 So, we make the denominator 100 as follows: 19 4 76 -- x --- = ---- 25 4 100 Therefore 19/25 is 76% This also understood??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

???

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh okay.last question, how did you get the 4,did you multiply?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes, here i multiplied by 4/4 because 25 x 4 gives me a 100 in the denominator If u hv a SKYPE account, we cud talk n I cud explain better Do u hv a SKYPE account??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh okay.Yes i do but i don't use it because i dont have a webcam

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No webcam required, just a headphone

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay hold on

OpenStudy (anonymous):

skype:rainbowskittless

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok, reaching u soon...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Is yr SKYPE name dzseniferskittles??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no its rainbowskittless

OpenStudy (anonymous):

name: Jul here

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok you search for hakki.singh and then send me an invite to join

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay i know what the problem is,i was using skype the webpage and i need to download the skype sign in program

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so it is difficult but thank you i understand the percentage thing

OpenStudy (anonymous):

see, the denominator has to be hundred for percentage

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes.i see

OpenStudy (anonymous):

In case it cannot be made/converted to 100, as say in 22/32, then just multiply the fraction by 100 and put a % sign after the resulting number

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Hope this clears everything..... If u wish, send a medal (:-))
