Percentage decrease can be found by taking: |original-new|/original where the original price is $2.89 and the new price is $2.82

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yest price = 2.89 today = 2.82 diff in price = 0.07 this is the difference for $2.89 think this way... the difference for $2.89 -----> $0.07 what is the diff for $100 -----> ? ( percent is for 100 right!?) obviously it's gonna be more, more than 0.07, right? i'd only look at the numbers now $2.89 -----> $0.07 $100 -----> ? (100/2.89) * 0.07 =2.42 therefor the percent of decrease is 2.42%
