OpenStudy (amistre64):

When i type in the reply box; my screen hops around like little mexican jumping beans..... l.......i.........k........e..........t........r.........y....i....n......g....t.....o.......t.y......p....e.......l......i..k....e.....t..h.....i.....s

OpenStudy (shadowfiend):

Hmm... Really? What browser?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

IE of course lol

OpenStudy (shadowfiend):

Still strange, we tried out the new reply stuff in IE. 7 or 8?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

That's weird. Mine has done it a few times in the last few minutes as well. I'm using IE8.

OpenStudy (amistre64):

IE8

OpenStudy (shadowfiend):

So strange. I just tried it on our Windows VM, which is also running XP with IE8, and it's working fine...

OpenStudy (shadowfiend):

Does it happen on longer posts, perhaps?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

the reply box will only show the last 2 lines of text and with my propensity to typo; i try to go back and fix things but where my cursor is doesnt show in the reply box, just the last two lines or so... and yes; londer posts are a major bogg on the system

OpenStudy (anonymous):

kick it

OpenStudy (shadowfiend):

Ah, actually, I do know about that bug, unfortunately. IE in particular insists on scrolling the text box back down to the bottom when you are not typing at the very end.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Mine's fine now, it only did it for a few minutes, mainly while on the immature post. (LOL) I hope you can get yours working properly amistre. :)

OpenStudy (amistre64):

at the moment as i type the computer is trying to feed it out of the keyboard buffer and its going slow across the screen...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

and get a new one : )

OpenStudy (amistre64):

thnx MsC :)

OpenStudy (shadowfiend):

Yeah, there's not much we can do about IE's abysmal Javascript performance, unfortunately.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You're welcome. I'm having the same problem with the script. LOL It makes me feel like I'm typing too fast for my computer's brain to keep up. :/

OpenStudy (amistre64):

exactly :) and at 40wpm i dont think thats the issue lol

OpenStudy (shadowfiend):

Eh. Had to ipban those bastards. Yeah, that sucks :( I actually have to look and see if there's any way that we can speed up typing specifically in IE. There's one thing we may be doing that's causing more trouble than it's worth at the moment.

OpenStudy (amistre64):

i wonder if i can cash in my medals for a system that openstudy is a breeze on ;)

OpenStudy (shadowfiend):

The jumping will be much more interesting hehe.

OpenStudy (shadowfiend):

I mean, the upside is, it no longer sucks to use equations because the preview doesn't jump anymore, and in everything *except* IE, neither does the text box :p

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Shadow, thank you for getting rid of them, and it looks like I'll be downloading Firefox, unless you can suggest something better. :)

OpenStudy (shadowfiend):

Firefox or Chrome should both do fine. Firefox 4, the latest version, may be having some issues with math rendering, if I remember correctly, but we'll be switching to the latest version of our math library soon and that should take care of it, I hope.

OpenStudy (amistre64):

i was using my laptop the other day and the font, after like 5 hours of replies went wierd...very tiny and no format to it...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Cool, thanks. :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Are there people who still use IE? :P

OpenStudy (amistre64):

lol... your lucky i got rid of my commodore 64 :)

OpenStudy (shadowfiend):

Whoa. Really? That's a funky one. I'm guessing that *wasn't* IE that time? Maybe you accidentally zoomed the page?

OpenStudy (shadowfiend):

Medal for mentioning a commodore 64 :D

OpenStudy (amistre64):

nope; tried refresh and everything, the font just got defunked lol

OpenStudy (amistre64):

what do i get for mentioning my apple IIe :)

OpenStudy (shadowfiend):

If I hadn't built the system to let me give you just one medal, you'd get another :D

OpenStudy (shadowfiend):

Well, if you accidentally zoomed you'd just have to Ctrl-0 or Ctrl-1 depending on the browser.

OpenStudy (amistre64):

ive tried emptying my cache; but there are like a few hundred cookies or so that wont delete... any clue as to what thats about?

OpenStudy (shadowfiend):

Wait, so your font is still screwed up?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

yeah, i zoom sometimes; my fat fingers hit the ctrl instead of shift when going to the =+ key :)....oh and my internet speed is 3.1Mbs. and there is no live preview of.... ok, it just popped uo lol

OpenStudy (shadowfiend):

BOOM! The live preview is actually entirely client-side, so internet speed is irrelevant :)

OpenStudy (amistre64):

the font was fine the next day; havent had an issue with it since; but the school computers never render the font, or the format...

OpenStudy (shadowfiend):

Hmmmmmmm.... Screenshot? :)

OpenStudy (amistre64):

ill get one monday; at home at the moment...and i finished typing this reply like 40 secs ago lol

OpenStudy (shadowfiend):

:( That's rather sad to hear. I'll have a look.

OpenStudy (amistre64):

my gut tells me that its something in the client side thats bogging me down

OpenStudy (shadowfiend):

Not unlikely at all. Again, IE is abysmally slow in many things, including DOM manipulation, which is what previews, fading, and posting are all about.

OpenStudy (amistre64):

thanx for the ear :) hope you can iron some of these issues out :)

OpenStudy (shadowfiend):

Yepper, we'll keep working on it!
