OpenStudy (momo):

The hypotenuse of a 30-60-90 degree right triangle measures 12. What is the measure of the shortest side?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

since the side opposite the 30degrees would be the smallest side. sin30=(shortest side)/12 And just simplify that to get. (\[(\sqrt{3}/2)(12) = 6\sqrt{3}\]

OpenStudy (momo):

would the shortest side be half of the hypotenuse? so i was thinking 6

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Actually. Sorry it is 6. For somereason I thought sin30 was equal to root3over2. But your right. The answer is 6. if you used the equation I gave you.

OpenStudy (momo):

oh thank you :D
