The time it takes to cover the distance between two cities by car varies inversely with the speed of the car. The trip takes 6 hours for a car moving at 63mph . How long does the trip take for a car moving at 54mph ? Will some one walk me through to find the answer

how many miles from 1 city to another

Doesn't say...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

miles per hour = miles / hour 63mph = miles / 6 hrs. Solve for miles = 63 * 6 = 378 miles. Now for the other car. 54 mph = 378 miles / x hours. Solve for x = 378 miles / 54 mph = 7 hours
