Given f(x)=3x^2-10x, find all values for which f(x)=8

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Subtract 8 and factor or use the quadratic formula

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[3x^2-10x = 8\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[3x^2-10x-8 =0\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i was questioning whether to set the problem to equal 8 and go from there or not. Thanks

OpenStudy (anonymous):

now u can factorise

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yeah f(x)=y so treat it as a variable and just substitute the 8 in for it

OpenStudy (anonymous):

x=6, x=4
