OpenStudy (nathan):

how do we know a photon has a spin of 1?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

spin is an intrinsic property of any particle which describes its own angular momentum. Photons belong to a family of particles called bosons, which are essentially force mediating particles, as opposed to matter particles, which all have a spin number which is an integer. Calculations complex beyond our level show the photon has a spin of 1
