Is that \[y=4x ^{3-2/5} -x^2-6x-5 \] or\[y= 4x^3 - 2/5 -x^2 - 6x - 5\] or \[(4x^3 - 2)/(5 - x^2 -6x -5)\] or something else entirely??
so if it is the second one, \[y=4x^3-2/5-x^2-6x-5\], it looks like you just need to combine "like terms" y=4x^3-x^2-6x-5-2/5 ....
so the -5 and -2/5 can combine when you give the five the same denominator as the as the -2/5 you'll get -25/5-2/5---> -27/5 then \[y=4x^3-x^2-6x-27/5\]
...i do wonder if your just simplifying though, or id there is something else you are supposed to do with the problem.
