Easiest way is to just use division to figure out how long it will take each girl to cross the distance.  
For Veronica: 40 miles / (35 miles/hr) = 1.143 hours = 68.57 minutes
For Mallory: 40 miles / (40 miles/hr) = 1 hour = 60 minutes
And then add the 5 extra minutes Mallory waited, so 65 minutes.

So there you go.
