Is 1quart = 2pints a conversion factor?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

a factor =1, so if you take (1 quart)/(2 pints) =1, then (1 quart)/(2 pints) is your conversion factor. You can use this conversion factor in any equation by multiplying it in. for example, how many pints can you get from 3.5 quarts? 3.5quarts = x pints, you can then multiply in your conversion factor on the left side because it just equals 1, : 3.5 quarts /((1 quart)/(2 pints)) = x pints, which can be re-written to be 3.5 quarts * 2pints/quart = 7 pints = x
