To determine the number of deer in a game preserve, a conservationist catches 373 deer, tags them and lets them loose. Later, 585 deer are caught;195 of them are tagged. How many deer are in the preserve?

763

You're assuming he didn't miss any the second time (or rather, ONLY missed tagged ones). Sounds a little far-fetched to me.

what i did was 585 minus the 195 that were tagged. that gives you 390. then i added the number of untagged deer ( 390) to the number of tagged deer ( 373). that gave me the answer of 7g3 total deer

i mean 763 deer
