Solve w/3-3/w=0

OpenStudy (gw2011):

There are a couple of ways you can solve this equation both of which will give you the same answer. First Way: w/3-3/w=0 w/3=3/w Cross multiplying gives: (w)(w)=(3)(3) w^2=9 w=+/-3 Second Way: w/3-3/w=0 w/3=3/w Multiplying both sides by w gives: (w)(w)/3=(3/w)(w) w^2/3=3 Multiplying both sides by 3 gives: (3)(w^2)/3=(3)(3) w^2=9 w=+/-3
