OpenStudy (amistre64):

(x+1) and (y-1) are notes or clues as to where the center is. What makes these parts equal 0? In other words; (x+1,y-1) = (0,0)..which is the origin by the way

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Standard equation, similar to eq of circle (x-h)^2 + (x-k)^2= center (h,k)
