Find x, y, and h.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

and here is the hint

OpenStudy (anonymous):

and this answer is mixed number

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It looks like you will need a system of equations. x^2+h^2 = 20^2 y^2+h^2 = 48^2 x+y=52

OpenStudy (anonymous):

y^2-x^2= 1904 and x = 52-y

OpenStudy (amistre64):

law of cosines formated for a side will give you the angles; then sin them :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

if you substitute 52-y in for x you should be able to solve to y and then x, and finally h. (although you could use sin and cos as well if you know how to use them)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

can u show me in the easy way before i will get confuse

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I need to go now because i have my next class now bye

OpenStudy (amistre64):

the hint looks to be congruent sides of congruent tris

OpenStudy (amistre64):

h/48 = 20/52 h = 48(20)/52

OpenStudy (amistre64):

y/48 = 48/52 y = 48(48)/52

OpenStudy (dumbcow):

you guys are correct but there is an easier way using ratios yeah what amistre is saying

OpenStudy (amistre64):

x/20 = 20/52 x = 20(20)/52

OpenStudy (amistre64):

:)
