In a basketball game, the bulldogs scored 34 field goals, each counting 2 points, and 13 foul goals, each counting 1 point. The panthers scored 38 field goals and 8 foul goals. Which team won? By how many points did it win?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

if the bulldogs score 34 field goals, how much did they score on the field goals alone?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

if one field goal is worth two points, how many points are 34 field goals worth?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

34 x 2= 68.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay good. they also scored 13 foul goals. each foul goal is worth 1 point. so how many points did they score with just fouls?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

13 x 1= 13 pts.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay good. so how many points did the bulldogs score totally?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

68 + 13= 81

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay good. similarly calculate the other team's score. whoever has the higher score wins the game by the difference of the scores.

thanks.
