Calculate the tangent line (attached)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

f = x + sqrt (x) Do you know how to take the derivative of a function?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yea, i know to put in the form of y = mx + b but i don't quite remember how to put in the form that he wants...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

f' = 1/(2sqrtx) +1

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh, it is in the form y-y1 = m(x - x1) , with y1 moved over by addition.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so just find the slope at 9 and plug it in

OpenStudy (anonymous):

not getting it right,,.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

did you get 7/6 ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

nope.. lol which equation did yu use to find that?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

f = x - sqrt (x) f' = 1 - 1/2 x^(-1/2) then substitute in 9 for x

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oooh.. solve for y.. alright thankis

welcome
