how do you determine the degree of a polynomial? the classsification?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It is the highest power to which a variable in the polynomial is raised to

OpenStudy (anonymous):

For example if there is an x^2 ( x square ) in the polynomial , the degree is 2 If there is an x^3 , the degree is three And so on

OpenStudy (anonymous):

solve (x-1)(x^2+x+1)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

(5x-4y)^2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

does 'solve' mean 'multiply'?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

(5x - 4y) ^2 25x^2 + 16y^2 - 40 xy

OpenStudy (anonymous):

if so, answer to first one is \[x^3-1\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

X^3 + x^2 + x -x^2 - x -1 X^3 -1
