please help!!! triangle ABC & triangle DEF,

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Two angles equal, so third angle equal so triangles similar (3 angles). DF/AC = 20/12 = 1.667 = DE/AB = EF/BC. The rest should be easy. A shorter way: AB + BC = 1.667 (DE + EF)

I DIDNT GOT????????????

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Do you mean you don't understand my solution? The two triangles ABC and DEF are similar, so the three corresponding sides are in the same ratio. AB/DE = BC/EF = AC/DF. But we are given DF = 20cm and AC = 12cm, so we can calculate the ratio as 20/12 - 1.667

i dont either its trig there has got to be a formula for everything it cant be that simple and i have the answer but i cant get the work to look like it to get the answer the answer is 11.2 and 8

OpenStudy (dumbcow):

right no this is a case of 2 similar triangles with equal angles so no trig needed just set up the ratios

OpenStudy (dumbcow):

20/12 = DE/4.8 20/12 = EF/6.72
