how do you find the quadratic equation if you are only given one solution, not two

OpenStudy (anonymous):

quadratic equation gives you the solutions. There are times when you only have one solution when using the quadratic formula. Not sure what you mean.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

One case in which that would be true is if both solutions are the same. So if your one solution is y then that means the quadratic is (x-y)(x-y) multiplied out.
