P(7,3) = A. 840 B. 70 C. 35 D. 210 What would the P represent again? :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

D.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Do you know the permutation formula?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

7p3 have seven pick 3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No i cant frickin remember it for the life of me!! >.<

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it is n!/(n-k)!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

plug and solve

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It's just like the Combination formula without any division. multiply descending values until you've written out how many numbers the digit after the P is: 7P3 = 7*6*5 (see, three numbers, descending from 7)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah, guys, actually the answer is not D it is A the equation should be read as we have the number of permutations of 7 taken 3 at a time. so P(7,3)= "seven factorial divided by three factorial"

OpenStudy (anonymous):

D is correct http://www.wolframalpha.com/input/?i=permutaion%287%2C3%29

OpenStudy (anonymous):

bah, what would wolframalpha know :P

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh i get it... did it without the difference :? guess i'll have to learn something today.
