Find the foci of the ellipse: 25x^(2)+16y^(2)-50x-96y-231=0

Umm when you complete the squares i.e. change the given equation into a whole square form you get the equation of a circle. So I believe there isn't any foci to find the vertices for.. I got this - \[(5x-5)^2 + (4y-12)^2 = 400\]

this is not the equation of a circle. for a circle the coefficients of the x^2 term and y^2 term must be the same.

I don't think so. That's not really the criteria for classifying a conic as a circle. The equation I have given simply gives you a circle with center (1,3) and radius 20.
