Solve: if the product of the square is a positive number and 7 is 21, then what is the number?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

product means multiply and is means "equals".... 7x^2 = 21, then solve

OpenStudy (anonymous):

dont get it

OpenStudy (anonymous):

first divide both sides by 7

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok so that is...3 and ...?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

that gives you x^2 = 3. Then to solve, take the square root of both sides

OpenStudy (anonymous):

x = 3 and -3, but the problem said it had to be a positive number, so 3 is the answer

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok thank you

you're welcome
