y=x^2-x-6 Must...Find...Roots! One root is (-2,0) and i think the other is...(4,0)?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

If you plug in 4 for x, do you get 0 for y?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

If so then 4 is a root. If not, then it's not.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thanks :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[16-4-6 \ne 0\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

now i gotta do the long way with quadratic formula....Ugh

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I think you can factor pretty easy.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

What two numbers multiply to give -6 and add to give -1?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Hmm.. So (3,0) and (-2,0)...?!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Lets see: 9 - 3 - 6 = 0 so yep.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yay.
