I have one last question a squirrel eats 7 nut a day for 365 day (year) the squirrel lives 4 3/5 years how many nuts did he eat?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

just work with conversions

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The squirell eats 7 * 365 nuts per year, which is 2555 nuts per year The total time is (4)(3/5) years, so the total nuts is (2555)(4)(3/5) = 6132 nuts

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yup thats right.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i got 6531 for some reason

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ur probab;y doing the fraction portion wrong

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You may need to add 7 to the total answer of 6132 to account for leap years.

i got the the same thing as fruitless

Dimensional analysis is the key here man, it basically lets you convert units to find answers. 4.6 years * ( 2555 nuts/1 year). Do you see how the year "unit" cancels out and you are left with the unit of "nuts". It may seem hard now but later down the road you'll be blad you know how to manipulate units like this.

*glad*

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no wait they want how many nuts in his 4 3/5 years did he eat

OpenStudy (anonymous):

6132 without leap years.
