can anyone help me? I need an idea for a graduation project that hasn’t been done a million times before. I want to do something new, something different. But I’m drawing a complete blank for ideas. Any thoughts?

Sure. To be honest, I would suggest to touch on any of the goals from U.N. (United Nations). The project not only gives you great success for your graduation, but it'll be something that will bring a lot of experience to you for your future in the field. It'll also be great because it'll be solving a real issue that humans are facing... Good luck, and I could show you what I started regarding the Universal Education goal; that's only if you're interested in the educational field. ;)

I advice you to implement semantic web projects. ( web 3.0) or you can design a model program. End user models the application and program generate relevant code like java or c# code.

Computer science or software development? Computer science, your best bet would be to approach a "difficult" problem, either in terms of scale - data structures - (semantic web modelling, for example) or in terms of complexity - algorithms - AI, research (check out http://creativemachines.cornell.edu/eureqa as a very advanced type of approach in this type of area). Perhaps to take innotek's idea a step further, you could build something that identifies structured data in a website -- for example, it would take as input a set of URLs (say pages of listings) and XPaths or even if you're filling adventurous, mouse clicks on relevant content, and it would "scrape" all the content. There's huge entrepreneurial prospect in something like that. ;-)
