from a base elevation of 9400ft a mountain peak in colorado rises to a summit elevation of 14,459ft find the grade of the peak. round to the nearest tenth as needed

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what's a grade...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

o a slope lol my bad never heard of it

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Part of the question must be missing to have grade you need the change in elevation 5059 feet but you also need to know the horizontal distance and grade would then express the elevation/distance as a percent.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

from a base elevation of 9400ft a moutain peak in colorado rises to a summit elevation of 14,459ft over a horizontal distance of 15,835ft. find the grade of the peak is what % round answer to nearest tenth as needed

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so you go up 5059 feet (14459-9400) and 15,835 horizontal: rise/run: 5059/15835 and that = .319482 or about 32%....
