f(x)=3x^2-2 find f(x+h)-f(x) ____________ h

OpenStudy (amistre64):

go ahead; type it in :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

type it in where

OpenStudy (anonymous):

6x

OpenStudy (amistre64):

6x + ____

OpenStudy (anonymous):

6x+0

OpenStudy (anonymous):

6x - 0

OpenStudy (amistre64):

lol; only if h= 0 :) 6x + 3h

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@amistre so the answer is 6x+3h?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

h is approach to o, by its definition, if i dont forget

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@suzi how you got that answer

OpenStudy (amistre64):

h doesnt approach 0 unless its told to; but yes; the limit of the function as h-> 0 = 6x 6x + 3h is the difference quotient tho

OpenStudy (anonymous):

because that is derivative, and u use definition

OpenStudy (amistre64):

definition of derivative is: \[\lim_{h \rightarrow 0} [6x +3h] = Dx(3x^2 -2)\]

OpenStudy (amistre64):

without the limit part, its just a difference quotient

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh ok

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so the answer is 6x+3h?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

yes

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thanks
