If an object is thrown upward with an initial velocity of 10 ft per second, then its height is given by h = -10t2 + 40t. What is its maximum height?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

differentiating gives h'= -20t+40 setting equal to 0 you can find the min/max of the function. -20t+40=0 implies t =2 and it is clearly a maximum
