how do you write a function rule
Micheal has a home based business putting on childrens parties. He charges $25.00 to design the party and then $8.50 per child. Write a function rule that relates the total cost of the party to the number of children n.
the number of children is n. Lets call the total cost of the party C. Tell me in english, what would be the total cost of the party, for, say 5 children?
the total cost of the party for 5 would be 42.50 would you take 8.50 times 5?
right, but you forgot that he charges 25 dollars to design the party apart from charging each child 8.5
ok so then i would take 42.50 and add 25.00 and i would come up with 67.50
okay. good. so what would your equation look like for 5 children? total cost = ?
im not sure
how did you get 67.5? just work backwards. you added 25 dollar design charge to the charge for 5 children.
so would it be 25 + 8.50
charge for one child is 8.5. charge for 5 children is?
ok i think i got it now so my equation would be 8.5 x 5 +25.00
okay good. so for 5 children, total cost is 8.5 x 5 +25.00. so for n children, the total cost is?
